Construction Management

CMSD School of the Arts

Bowen partnered with AM Higley to perform as Construction Manager at Risk for construction of Cleveland Metropolitan School Districtís Cleveland School of the Arts. The new school is built on the existing school site and houses 775 students grades 6-12. With the incorporation of many unique design features, it was a constructability challenge from the start. The construction start date was delayed by two months due to permitting delays associated with the site being located in a flood plain. In turn, this required redesign (removal of basement) during the bidding/buy-out phase of the project. As CM at Risk, Bowen is responsible for Project Management and Executive Project Management.

Construction was substantially completed on-time for student occupation at the start of the 2015-2016 school year.

Cleveland School of the Arts is among the first publicly funded K-12 schools in the state of Ohio to be completed via the CM at Risk delivery method.
