New City of Cleveland Kennel

The city of Cleveland's original kennel was built in 1977 and badly needed an upgrade. RLB+A, in partnership with ARQ of Kittery, Maine, was selected to design a newer, more animal-friendly facility on a new location at West 93rd Street and Detroit Avenue in Cleveland's Gordon Square neighborhood. The new facility will be 13,500 sq. ft., and provide acoustically-separated "pods," which will provide a greater sense of calm for the animals. Cages will no longer be stacked on one another in these pods. The facility will also provide more natural light, making the animal care and adoption areas more hospitable to the users.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2016. This project is aimed at a LEED Silver rating.
