Norfolk Southern National Facility Program

Richard L. Bowen + Associates Inc. is contracted through Urban Engineers of Philadelphia, PA, to provide architectural services for the design of numerous new employee welfare and locomotive service and parts storage facilities for Norfolk Southern throughout the United States east of the Mississipppi.

The welfare buildings serve as an employee area for the mechanics that repair the locomotives and train cars at these locations. The buildings house offices, restrooms, lockers, showers, a training room and a lunch room. The building prototype includes masonry construction with a steel roof framing system and a standing seam metal roof. Interiors include oil/grease resistant rubber flooring and decorative colors.
