Phillips Edison & Company recently selected Richard L. Bowen + Associates to help in “reinventing the retail tradition” that has been at the heart of Parma since 1955. This redevelopment of the existing Parmatown Mall and Plaza into The Shoppes at Parma includes approximately 575,000 SF of façade and retail space renovation distributed between the existing strip center and mall, plus an additional 85,000 SF of new construction.
The design intent is to convey a main street feel and sense of community with smaller scale facades and pedestrian friendly features. This will be accomplished through demolition of outdated portions of the existing mall, relocation of the mall food court and façade renovation at both the new mall entry areas and along the 1,250 linear foot plaza area. In addition to the new building designs, the 84-acre site, including parking lots, driving lanes and walkways will be improved to provide better pedestrian access and incorporate natural amenities.
