The Opportunity
Bowen is accepting applications for an Internship Opportunity in our Electrical Engineering Department, for the Spring and/or Summer. You will learn some basics involved in electrical design for buildings such as power distribution, lighting design and the National Electrical Code. You will help with the production of electrical plans for various project types such as Retail and Public Housing.
The candidate will work together with some of the of the most talented and brilliant people in the industry.  Our open-studio office is in the city of Cleveland off the Superior Viaduct, bridging both the West Bank of the Flats and Ohio City.  This relationship to the vitality of the city is evident in both Bowen’s enthusiasm for our work as well as our lively office culture.  Colleagues are often sharing lunch, participating in after-work activities, or enjoying office sanctioned learning happy hours.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum grade level of Sophomore
  • Competent Experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Experience with construction site visits and associated safety rules
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit is a plus!

Specific job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Calculate the electrical service for a new building.
  • Perform lighting photometric reports.
  • Perform construction observation visits and produce filed reports and meeting minutes.
Place electrical devices and equipment onto electrical plans within AutoCAD and Revit.
