Wooster, OH
Designing in response to community wants and needs
The City of Wooster completed a survey in 2017 to gauge interest from residents on expanding their programs and amenities. Based on the results of this survey, the Recreation Department determined that community members were enthusiastic about expanding the recreation center’s services to include an indoor track, activity and games spaces, and an expanded fitness area. The Recreation Department also identified the need for full court gymnasiums to host basketball and volleyball league tournaments, meeting and events spaces for community use, a café, and enhanced senior center amenities.
To determine the potential for expansion of the existing Community Center building, located at 241 S. Bever Street, the City of Wooster contracted Bowen, architects and engineers, to complete a feasibility study, which included programming and development of a conceptual design and budget for such an expansion.
The final report included a summary of space requirements, concept plans, concept rendering and a cost estimate.
