Hard Rock Rocksino / MGM Northfield

Architectural services for initial design and continuing through a re-brand and beyond

As Executive Architect, Bowen worked in conjunction with design firm SOSH to define this new ‘Rocksino’ Hard Rock brand. This new entertainment and gaming venue sits on the site of the existing Northfield Park Race Track. Designed around a modern “Arena Rock” theme, the architecture of the building loosely resembles a sound stage and includes dynamic lighting both inside and out.

Core space of the facility houses 2,500 electronic VLT gaming machines. The floor layout radiated around a Hard Rock Café and center bar featuring multimedia screens and Hard Rock memorabilia. Additional amenities off the gaming floor included restaurants, comedy club, and retail Rock Shop. A flexible live performance area provided additional seating for 2,000.

After the Rocksino opened in 2013, we continued to perform AE services for tasks such as a Smoking Patio addition and expansion, Kosar’s Steakhouse Patio Enclosure, and work on Hard Rock Live, Club Velvet/Comedy Zone, and the High Limit Bar.

Beginning in 2019, we provided design services for the rebrand to MGM Northfield and continue to lead renovation and addition projects.
