New sets of twin plazas for each end of the Ohio Turnpike
The Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission selected Bowen to design two pairs of service plazas: Indian Meadow and Tiffin River plazas in Williams County, and Mahoning Valley and Glacier Hills plazas in Mahoning County. These transit projects involved the construction of two new plaza buildings at the same time, one on each side of the Turnpike.
Interior amenities include: a full food court, vending machines, video games, spacious restrooms, a truck driver lounge and shower area, a truck driver laundry, and a large lobby. These plazas feature larger food courts than their predecessors, as well as full service stores at fueling islands. The plazas also featured updated design standards for finishes and paint.
Outdoor features include: a pet enclosure, picnic area, and two large fueling areas, one for passenger cars and one for trucks. With these new facilities, the Turnpike Commission was able to offer Ethanol 85 as a fuel choice for the first time.
